But a small fraction, dear reader.

As of my latest count, I have 34 unread books on my bookshelf. This does not include the books I have stored away in moving boxes, e-books, and books on a “plan to read list” I have in various journals. The oldest books are from junior high, maybe even before then. The newest is from about a week ago as of typing this. Despite suffering from reading burnout, I continued to collect books that would then go on to collect dust for upwards of a decade.

If you’re anything like me, you feel a lingering guilt when you look at your growing set of unread books. They were written and edited and printed with shiny covers to be read after all, but they had to get chosen by someone who barely even touches them. It’s sad! I think it’s sad. And that guilt finally got to me.

That’s where this project comes in. As of about a month ago I’ve been (slowly) making my way through my bookshelf (keyword: slowly), trying to make sure I can mark all of these books as “Read.” Someday.

This blog is to catalog my under-loved books.

New book reviews will be up as books are read. As of writing this, I am currently reading There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins, which has been on my bookshelf for about two years. Not too bad.

Back to reading!

K
